Some of these stories have been published previously. Pastoral was published in an Australian Book Society collection, The Tracks We Travel; Dingo Baits and Pieces of Eight by Social Alternatives. Jed's Dream won the Warana Prize and Rain on a Hot Tin Roof won the Longreach Centenary Prize under the title Until the Rains; Saturday Night, Duaringa and The Enforcer were published in the author's Stories of Central Queensland.
