The author, who worked as a foreign reporter and correspondent, tells the story of the devastation of Spanish flu in 1918 and some of the solutions that came close to stopping the pandemic. He describes how Spanish flu affected his own relatives in Spain, and recounts other epidemics such as SARS in China in 2003 and the bird flu in 2004.
