About This Book

Four unique films and texts dealing with landscape and urbanization, from propaganda disguised as documentary by Charles Dekeukeleire (1951); a critical approach packaged as fiction by Luc De Heusch (1958); to the headstrong opinion pieces by Jef Cornelis (1972, 1976), the filmmakers seem to have both an enlightening and disturbing look at the scenery. The texts are written by four specialists on urban history: Michiel Dehaene, Bruno Notteboom, Michael Ryckewaert and Sofie De Caigny. Each author highlights one aspect of the post-war relationship with landscape and urbanization in Belgium.
