Estimates of the unauthorized immigrant population residing in the United States, 1990-2000

Describes estimates of the unauthorized immigrant population residing in the United states in January 2000, by State of residence and country of origin. The estimates were developed using data on the foreign-born population from the 2000 Census, INS administrative data, and a new methodology for estimating annual trends in population growth. It is the third in a series of estimates developed by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).
