About This Book
Base Hospital 13, a hospital unit recruited at Presbyterian Hospital of Chicago, saw its first service in World War I ministering to sick and wounded at Limoges, France. A request from Washington, D.C. for organizing a similar model to serve World War II, brought veterans of the Base Hospital into the organization of a new hospital unit that came to be known as the 13th General Hospital. The 13th General Hospital spent most of its army life in New Guinea jungles. This memoir, put together by the alumni group, known as the 13th General Hospital Association, includes a roster of its personnel.
