Hotărârea Curții a dat României 9700 km² de platou continental și zonă economică exclusivă (...) Acest rezultat remarcabil nu ar fi fost posibil fără echipa admirabilă de experți pe care am avut onoarea să o conduc în calitate de agent al României. Iar domnul amiral Laurian era cel mai vechi membru al acestei echipe, fiind prezent în delegația română de negociere încă de la începutul tratativelor româno-ucrainiene, în 1998, și pe aproape tot parcursul celor 34 de runde, derulate până la sesizarea Curții de la Haga, în septembrie 2004."--Page 7
