Stoneware of southwestern Pennsylvania

Stoneware of Southwestern Pennsylvania is a much expanded version of Old Pots (1978), which describes the once flourishing salt-glazed stoneware industry of Pennsylvania's Monongahela and Youghiogheny Valleys. Since his first book, craftsman and teacher Phil Schaltenbrand has uncovered much new information about the remarkable individuals involved in making pottery - from owners to clay diggers, throwers, decorators, kilnmen, and those who delivered the wares by wagon and flatboat.

This new edition includes 209 illustrations of southwestern Pennsylvania stoneware, the potters and their employees, kilns and the buildings where vessels were thrown, decorated and stored, and maps and contemporary documents.
