A collection of articles published previously, produced on the occasion of Jäckel's 60th birthday. Three of them (pp. 69-101) discuss different aspects of the "historians' debate" in regard to the Holocaust. He doubts the importance of the question of the Holocaust's uniqueness, which does not in any case reduce the extent of the crime. Criticizes Fest's and Nolte's arguments, and shows that the extermination of the Jews was premeditated by Hitler and was not a defense against invasion from the East.
