The Purposes of the University

During Bernie Machen's ten-year tenure, the face of high education in Florida has served as a bellwether for other state university systems in fighting funding decreases, fending off legislative pressures, applying on-line learning to the UF mission, and creating world-class centers in the STEM disciplines. This volume will highlight the challenges and history of today's state universities.
