From preface: On two occasions, in 1963 and again in 1969, the dusty South Texas town of Crystal City made the headlines. Both times Mexican Americans of the community gained crontrol of the local government, ousting Anglos from their rule. This book is about: why these revolts occured, how they were carried out, why the first revolt failed, and whether the second seemed more permanent.
