About This Book

I only started to read it late last night, but it is the biography of an interesting woman, written and published by her husband, who loved and admired her greatly. It begins with the history of her family in the early 19th century. It includes time spent in Mexico and Europe, the work she did and the places she lived. Mr. Sloane gives a clear understanding of the unique person she was.

Mrs. Sloane was my third grade teacher in the 1968-1969 school year. My mother was a first grade teacher at the same school and they were friends. Mr. and Mrs. Sloane lived in the community next to the one where my family lived in Annapolis, MD and my parents very much enjoyed visiting the Sloanes at their home.
