Los cimientos de la iglesia en la América española

Detailed comparative study of several institutions established for training and education of priests, their role in New Spain society and in context of Spanish empire. Analyzes various political forces and groups that were shaped around these seminaries, seeking to modify common perception that they were solely clerical institutions. Appendix contains transcription of 18 documents--founding charters, by-laws, deeds and provisions on establishment and governance of seminars; at least one for each institution studied.
