About This Book

Peter Riley's Reserve was compiled in an expression of celebration during the United States Bicentennial. Contained in the book is a nostalgic glance at Carrollton, Michigan's past, through a mingling of factual information and recorded memories of the citizens who grew up with the community.
The title of the book refers to a portion of the tract of land that consists of present-day Carrollton. It was deeded by the Chippewa Nation to a half-Chippewa trapper named Peter Riley in the Treaty of Saginaw in 1819.
