About This Book

"When prints had been made, C.L. Sonnichsen, author of many books on Southwestern literature and history, and Millard G. McKinney, El Paso photographer and historian, undertook the task of identifying the photographs as completely as possible. One set of prints was placed the library of the University of Texas at El Paso; another set and the original negatives were placed in the El Paso Public Library. The photographs which appear in this volume were prepared from the original negatives by Charles Binion, El Paso photographer. His technical skill and his respect for Aultman's work have greatly enhanced the images which passed before Aultman's camera. This volume pays tribute to Otis A. Aultman as a photographer and as an individual with a sense of history. His photographs have preserved for all of us these scenes of the El Paso-Juarez border as it once was"--Page xiii.
