About This Book

This work of historical fiction tells the story of the worst industrial disaster in US history as Union Carbide and their contractor hired desperate workers during the great depression to tunnel through Gauley Mountain in West Virginia taking no safety precautions. Made of pure silica dust, hundreds, if not a thousand, of primarily African American workers died as a result of this corporate callousness. It should be noted that when this book was first published Union Carbide bought every copy in an effort to suppress it. Additionally, the author mysteriously died in a house fire.
