About This Book

1988 was the year of "Legacies of Genius." After three years of intensive planning, the show finally opened in April and enthralled the city until the end of September. The exhibition was a collaborative venture undertaken by sixteen Philadelphia special collections libraries, with the Library Company playing a major role in the planning and execution and providing a home for a portion of the exhibition. Edwin Wolf 2nd served as guest curator of the exhibition. More than 17,000 people came to see the show, a response that was very gratifying to all those who had a hand in the project.
