About This Book

"Examples of twelve school-based activities which model an integrated approach to arts teaching and learning are described in this book. It shows how schools have taken advantage of the educational belief that nothing is learned in isolation and that learning is about making connections and crossing boundaries. The case studies, ranging from the early years to year 10 in small and large urban and rural schools, demonstrate integration through: using one or more of the five arts forms (dance, drama, media, music, and the visual arts) as a vehicle for learning across all curriculum areas, combining arts with another area of study (eg. science or technology), integrating literacy learning with learning about the arts, teaching and learning through a combination of arts forms. Examples include learning about the local environment, investigating sounds, designing a school logo, and studying Aboriginal art and the Dreaming. Each case study is accompanied by a selection of photographs."--Distributor's website (www.curriculum.edu.au)
