About This Book

This book takes the form of a long idiosyncratic essay, (no chapters), based upon the plants in the large garden that he and his wife had created in Fife, Scotland, since moving there in 1964. The text is illuminated by anecdotes from his life and illustrated on most pages with his own drawings and paintings. He was an early proponent of organic gardening.
