About This Book

"The introductory part of the book discusses Poland's role in the history of Europe - with special emphasis on the last 25 years - as well as the very concept and idea of European integration from a broad historical perspective - from the beginnings of European civilisation up to World War II, taking into account the theoretical and doctrinal aspects of this processes, as well as specific political and economic undertakings. The third part of the work contains an analysis of contemporary integration phenomena that have been taking place in Europe after World War II, focusing on their main goals, various determinants, institutions, stages, and models, and including a more detailed presentation of the individual phases in the functioning of the European Communities/European Union from their establishment until today. The publication ends in an attempt to assess the main achievements and weaknesses of the present-day European Union, as well as the past, present and future contribution of Poland to European integration."
