About This Book

A series of conversations between artist and sociologist Roberto Jacoby and philosopher and researcher José Fernández Vega, the first in 2008, the last in July 2016. This book is a vital journey and also a look at the Argentine cultural scene from the Di Tella to the present. Jacoby is one of the few who has lived a whole era and can account for his own work and the aesthetic and political constellations that were happening around him during a vertiginous and complex historical period. The conceptualism, the figure of Oscar Masotta, the happening and the art of the media, the profession of sociologist, the violent seventies, the rock and the Virus group in the eighties and its international consolidation since the nineties. In these conversations with José Fernández Vega, several lives seem to be summarized. In fact, perhaps they are. In any case, they are identified in a name: Roberto Jacoby.
