This trip beginning in Springfield, August 12, 1897 and ending at the same place fourteen days later, extended south and southeast through Christian, Ozark and Taney counties, Mo., and into Marion and Boone Counties, Ark. Its object was a reconnaissance of the zinc, lead and other resources of the counties of Northern Arkansas named, and also a rough and rapid view of the topography, etc., of the country traveled, as basis for an opinion concerning the practicability of a projected railway.
