Organizing and reporting on labor in the East Bay, California and the West, 1925-1987

Discusses his childhood in Berkeley, travels in the Pacific and Far East, and reporting on the 1934 San Francisco Maritime and General Strike, his involvement with the Communist Party, his work as a labor organizer, association with Harry Bridges, and his biography of Tom Mooney.
