About This Book
"This first, brief study gives a precise account of the development of silk screening for artistic purposes in Colombia. Although silk screening was known and practiced in Colombia for commercial use since the early 1930s, it was not until 1969, according to Iriarte, that the technique was systematically utilized as a graphic media with artistic intent. The bulk of the book is dedicated to the decade 1970-80, in which Iriarte recognizes two different stages (1970-74 and 1975-78), and a third (beginning in 1979) that probably has continued up to this day. Complemented with 20 small reproductions. Bibliography is scarce but practical"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
