Basilica Carolina opus grande

First edition of this festival book celebrating the completion of the Jesuit church in Mannheim (Jesuitenkirche), which served as the court church of the Mannheim Electors Charles Philip III and Charles Theodore. Designed by Alessandro Galli da Bibiena, the church was completed in 1760 anc consecrated to St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis Xavier by the Prince Bishop of Augsburg, Joseph of Hesse-Darmstadt. Most of the engravings are by the Klauber brothers after illustrations by F.A. von Leitenstorffer, F.W. Rabaliati, J.G. Wille, and J.G. Ziesenis.
