S. Muthuthamby Pillai has left a treasure trove of information on the Tamils in Singapore and Malaya. His significant contribution, however, is his effort to publish the two volumes on Malaya Manmiyam (Glorious Malaya) as a testimony to the thousands of South Indians and Ceylon Tamils who rose to prominence in Singapore and Malaya in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
