Ugolovnye nakazanii︠a︡

A study of criminal punishment in Russian legal practice in comparison with criminal penalties imposed in other countries. The book offers recommendations on how to improve the system in Russia, e.g., through reduced prison sentences and increased use of fines. The author argues that correctional rehabilitation, forced labor, and imprisonment are ineffective. Other topics of discussion are the death penalty, confiscation of property, and punishments that are no longer imposed.
