"The re-titling of this collection is possibly overdue. When the book first appeared in the late 1990s the Depot Theatre was becoming an important force in Wellington as it is now across several areas. The essays in the collection were, in fact, from the early 1990s. A second edition came out in 2008 looking at work from a variety of sources. Now in 2009 with a third edition there is just too big a gap between now and then and the earlier title does not fit..."--Introduction.
