The "Big Read" (Big Read 2003)

Whatever your personal preference, the BBC's Big Read sparked the country's imagination like no other book event. Thousands of people across the UK discussed the nation's best books and voted for their particular favourites. From Dostoyevsky to Archer, Winnie the Pooh to Terry Pratchett, with Tolkien, Steinbeck and Suskind thrown in for good measure, the final list was eclectic in the extreme, reflecting the huge range of books read by the general public on a daily basis. This book is a reference work for the family, highly illustrated and giving a short synopsis of each story, along with bits of interesting ephemera about the author and the way his work is seen today. A useful book to answer the question - 'what will I read next?'
