About This Book
Adaptation of George Orwell's classic "Farm Animal" for the Brazilian northeastern environment, In this cordel version, with verses from writer, poet and cordelista Josué Limeira and illustrations by Vladimir Barros, the animals maintain fidelity to the original plot of the British satirical work of 1945, but transformed to folk literature in verse (cordel), with rhymed forms typically of northeastern Brazil. The history of the animals of the Granja do Solar, who, tired of being exploited by a drunken and irresponsible boss, decide to take over the farm and their own destiny, is emblematic of the exploitation of the weak by the powerful and corruption, by power, of humanist purposes and ideals. Transposed to the cordel genre, the narrative gains another kind of strength, of very Brazilian flavor without, however, losing universality.
