New River and Other Poems

New River and Other Poems is a collection of poetry and photographs by NC writer Maurice Thomas. Using images of the Appalachians interspersed with poems, Thomas conveys a haunting sense of time and place, past and present, of longing and loneliness, of people seeking certainty in a world of change. The poems trek the creeks, rivers, and hills of western North Carolina and ultimately end by the river Thames in London, a spiritual home for the author.
