Malcolm, Lord Breckonridge is an able politician but needs a wife to fulfill his goals in Parliament. Sarah Compton is chaperone to her beautiful cousin for the season. Somewhat surprisingly, as she seeks to convince Malcolm that her cousin is too young for him, he decides that maybe Sarah is the woman he really wants.
