1989, the novel “Teona”, 500 pages. This novel is an ample picture of the Romanian society in the eighties, seen through the main hero’s eyes (Mihai Vladeanu) who is always, continuously, fighting against the oppressive communist regime; a secret, muffled fight, as many actions of those around him. He is the prisoner of every day life, he struggles to cope with the hardships with which the whole country is confronted. He gets up at 3 o’clock every morning, to queue for the milk or the bread, goes doyens of time to Bucharest where he meets a movie director, making many changes in a screenplay that they propose to the Culture Ministry for getting an approval for a movie. In parallel, in his private life, Mihai Vladeanu lives the drama of a continuous search of a former love, Teona. Defeated by hardships, Mihai reaches the seashore, where he intends to throw himself into waves, but, finally, he gives up this idea and comes back home, to his day-by-day life. Teona-Teophana-teophaneia is the leading idea of the novel: the revelation of a truth that Mihai Vladeanu enjoys finally.
