About This Book

Anthology of critical texts on the art and development of the art group Enema, from its foundation in 2000 to 2003, when they separated soon after the 8th Biennial of la Habana. The collective was first organized as a pedagogic project in 2000 in the Faculty of Plastic Arts of the Instituto Superior de Arte and included students Fabián Peña, Adrián Soca, Lino Fernández, Pavel Acosta, Edgar Echevarría, David Beltrán, Alejandro Cordovés, Janler Méndez, Nadieshzda Inda, Zhenia Couso, Hanoi Pérez, Rubert Quintana and James Bonachea and artist Lázaro Saavedra, back when he was a professor of the Faculty. The book also includes some reproduction of the pos-modern magazine Enema, the inspiration behind the group's name. "Enema's greatest contribution has been to be consequent to that critical spirit that animated the group since the start, and that did not stop even before the authority of the Instituto Superior de Arte, nor in the face of the restrictions of daily life nor in the face of its own errors or prejudices."--P. 41.
