En armé av kvinnor

Lill-Marit Bugge makes analog collages by cutting pictures from newspapers from the 40s, 50s and 60s and gluing them onto backgrounds that she has photographed herself. She cuts women out of their original context and places them in her own world that is full of humor and playfulness. Elegant mannequins and pinups basking in front of the camera are from the beginning created from, for, through and by the male gaze with the aim of pleasing and seducing. But at the same time also for the observing woman who would see how she was expected to behave. Representative, beautiful, creative, orderly and fashionably dressed, she would take care of the home and prepare it for her husband's return from work, but also for parties, weekends and visitors. The woman should also know how to make herself available and erotically attractive to the man. Lill-Marit's intention is for the women to regain their honor and self-worth by freeing them from their traditional male context in the collages. The images are complemented by short texts by the artist herself and quotes from Søren Kierkegaard, Edvard Munch, Lars Vilks and others

Lill-Marit Bugge gör analoga collage genom att klippa bilder ur tidningar från 40-, 50- och 60-talet och limma dem på bakgrunder som hon har fotograferat själv. Hon klipper kvinnor ur deras ursprungliga sammanhang och placerar dem i sin egen värld som är full av humor och lekfullhet. Eleganta mannekänger och pinuppor som solar sig framför kameran är från början skapade ur, för, genom och av den manliga blicken i syfte att behaga och förföra. Men samtidigt även för den betraktande kvinnan som skulle se hur hon förväntades bete sig. Representativ, vacker, kreativ, ordningsam samt moderiktigt klädd skulle hon ta hand om hemmet och förbereda det för mannens hemkomst från arbetet, men också för fest, helg och besökare. Kvinnan skulle även ha koll på hur hon ska göra sig tillgänglig och erotiskt attraktiv för mannen. Lill-Marits avsikt är att kvinnorna ska återfå sin heder och sitt egenvärde genom att de i collagen fritas ur sin traditionella manliga kontext. Bilderna kompletteras av korta texter av konstnären själv och citat av Søren Kierkegaard, Edvard Munch, Lars Vilks m.fl
