The first printing of this extensive genealogical record was made available at the Annual Greer Families Reunion of August 10, 1997. Except for reformatting and updating some of the front pages, and adding updates regarding the late life and death of author, Edward A. Greer, the contents of this edition remain unchanged. Pictures are in black-and-white. The families of: Arrington-Ferguson, Stie, Hall, Hambrick, Greer, Greear, Hudson, Bruce, Compton, Cooper, Cordell, Gibson, Slocum, Atkins, Walker, Jones, Nagy, Rakes, Tang, Wright, Hodges, Nichols, Barbour, Smithers and Wray are featured.

Genealogies are arranged by family progenitor: The name of the lineage parent appears in bold. Each person who has descendants has been assigned an ID number to help readers locate a person’s ancestors or descendants. A list of college and university graduates, excerpts of a settlement map of Franklin County, Virginia, and an every-name index add to the value of this work.
