Nursing at home was a very common practice in Showa era, before World War II almost every home had ice pillows, ice bags thermometers, inhalers and enema tubes. They had extensive knowledge of folk remedy. Once someone in the family got sick they cooperated, took care of the sick and fought the disease. It was the era people keenly realized the preciousness of life and the difficulty of protecting life by facing life and death at home. What could we learn from the era when people confronted illness, life and death as their own?
