These paintings are accomapnied by five giants of Spain's "Golden Century" (1598ı1621): El Greco, Francisco de Zurbarán, José de Ribera, Bartolomé Murillo, and Diego Velazquez, whose paintings offer a visual route of Spanish culture and its geographic surroundings. The Mexican exhibition contains 7 paintings that were not included in the New York show in 2005.
