Welfare capitalism in Taiwan

Taiwan, as a newly industrialised country, is well known for its rapid economic development. But few have been concerned with the social implications. This book explores the development of state welfare in Taiwan, focusing on the interconnection between capitalist development and state welfare from 1895 to 1990. Four factors - the capitalist world system, state structure, ideology, and social structure - are considered simultaneously from an integrated Marxist perspective.
