About This Book
New edition with more updated photos and texts of the commemorative edition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the "Mexican Woodstock", the music festival held on September 11 and 12, 1971 in Avandaro. Yo estuve en Avaþndaro is a graphic testimony of an even which was characterized by its audacity, rebellion and unconventionalism, documented with photographs taken by the lens of artist Graciela Iturbide. The Mexican rock festival baptized as the Festival de Rock y Ruedas de Avaþndaro (Rock and Wheels of Avándaro) and held at the place located near the town of Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico, is considered "the most significant event in the history of Mexican rock" and now comes to a book. The Festival was so successful that the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of Luis Echeverría banned rock, live concerts and called both the attendees of Avándaro and the organizers and participating bands as "traitors to the country".
