About This Book
The Waterborne Disease Risk Assessment Program is an interagency program involving the New York City Departments of Environmental Protection and Health and Mental Hygiene. Established in 1993 the Program obtains data on rates of giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis along with demographic and risk factor information on case patients, provides a system to track diarrheal illness to assure rapid detection of any outbreaks, and determines the contribution of tap water consumption to gastriointestinal disease. The Program web site contains the annual reports of the data. The Program is jointly administrated by the Departments of Health and Environmental Protection.
