About This Book
"The archives of the Glasgow School of Art contain a magnificent collection of textiles that range from medieval stumpwork up through the designs of recent students. The textiles come from Continental Europe and North America as well as from the British Isles. The collection, started for teaching purposes, was augmented when part of the national Needlework Development Scheme was wound up and its collection deposited at the School. The collection has also benefited from bequests from individual donors. The result is a diverse and fascinating selection of textiles from many different countries exhibiting a wide range of techniques and designs. This book highlights the history of the collection and some of the wonderful examples that are in it."--BOOK JACKET.
