Gubias y rodillos del México indígena

The wood-carving engravings of young Mixtec, Zapotec, Tzeltal, Nahua and Purépecha Indians are the result of the workshop "Conservation, identity and community development" (CID-Community) carried out by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), as a community project that aims to visit and "rescue" images of indigenous cultures and the rural life. Specialists from the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) and the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) began to work in different communities through ongoing activity of itinerant and popular workshops of engraving know as "Taller Popular de Grabado". The workshop is held currently in the communities Acatlán (Guerrero); San Miguel Tequixtepec, San Martín Huamelulpan, Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán, Santa Catarina Tayata, Santa María Cuquila, Santa Ana del Valle (Oaxaca); San Miguel Ixtla (Guanajuato); San Jerónimo Tulijá y Santo Domingo (Chiapas).
