This book challenges a long-held belief about Thucydides: his supposed lack of interest in the sacred and in religion. This view of Thucydides, however, is limiting and even misleading, as a careful rereading of his work demonstrates. Thucydides' writings provide a space for the sacred that is closely interwoven with his vision of the Greek world at war.
