About This Book

"The proposal to hold an international Summer School in Radio Astronomy was made by Mr. W. Burmeister when he was the Director of Extra-Mural Studies in the University of Manchester. It is believed that the School was the first of its kind anywhere in the world. The list of lecturers and their subjects shows that, with the help of the many distinguished visiting lecturers, we were able to arrange a general introductory course to Radio Astronomy, which, none the less, took participants close to the frontiers of knowledge in most of the main subdivisions of the subject"--Foreword.
