"Uganda's economy is premised on MSMES and efforts have been established to formalize and streamline MSME development. A fully fledged Directorate was established in July 2016 under the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives. The sector strategic objectives are to: (i) improve private sector competitiveness, (ii) develop sector institutional human resources, (iii) increase sector productivity and capacity to produce goods and services, (iv) enhance application of standards and infrastructure and (v) increase market access of products and services to local, regional and international market"--Page II
