About This Book

My grandfather wrote this book. I am reading it now. I'll get back to you about the content. I will tell you about him though. He was born in the Ukraine and left Russia to come to America at an early age all by himself. He was Jewish and his family, like all Jews in that time and place, were persecuted. After he came to the US in 1904 he became a lawyer and a journalist. He was a foreign correspondent for the International News Service in Russia just after the Russian Revolution and later became chief of of the Moscow bureau of the Associated Press. He returned to the US in the 1930s and wrote this book a couple of years before his death in 1954. In the beginning of the book he seems horrified by the misuse of power and brutality of the communist regime.
