General Claire Lee Chennault and China, 1937-1958

During the early summer of 1937 Claire Lee Chennault went to China on a "temporary" three month evaluation of the Chinese air force. His first visit led to an active involvement with China and Sino-American relations for more than twenty years--the remainder of his life. According to Captain Eddie Richenbacker: "In proportion to what General Chennault was given to work with, Chennaults's was the outstanding achievement of World War II."
