"Seventh volume in the Serie Quito is devoted to the study of the communes and rural parishes surrounding the city of Quito. Contributions by different authors reflect demographic, socioeconomic, and historic approaches to urban planning. Some chapters were originally written as technical reports under the Plan Maestro de Rehabilitación de las Areas Históricas de Quito for the Dirección de Planificación. Diagnostic assessments of present condition of communes and rural parishes are accompanied by recommendations for rehabilitative interventions.
