About This Book

Detailed records of lumber production in the United States are scattered in about 50 publications, most of which are out of print and generally unavailable (except in libraries) to foresters, lumbermen, economists, and others interested in the lumber industry.

The purpose of this publication is to provide in condensed form for ready reference (1) all of the available record of lumber production, both as reported to the Bureau of the Census or to the Forest Service, (2) revised figures for total lumber production for certain years as estimated by the Forest Service, (3) the record of lumber prices for the years for which prices were obtained.
