"This copy is missing many of the original 31 plates: that they were never bound in indicates that the firm was running short on their first print run of these pictures. This copy includes 6 of the collotypes produced for the 1872 American edition. These plates are direct copies of the Heliotypes in the English first edition... These collotypes bear a strong resemblence to Rockwood's work. When magnified 60x the pattern and crazing of the ink looks very similar...
